What We Do – Services and Product

Lehra Agro Producer Company Ltd. (LAPCL) delivers a comprehensive range of agricultural, business, and capacity-building services designed to improve the productivity, profitability, and resilience of small and marginal farmers. Through a network of Agriculture Entrepreneurs (AEs), strategic partnerships, and market-led interventions, LAPCL provides end-to-end support across the agricultural value chain.

Agriculture Entrepreneurs (AEs) Development, Farmer’s Capacity Building and Extension Services:

LAPCL has developed an innovative Agriculture Entrepreneur (AE) Model to strengthen last-mile agricultural service delivery and promote rural entrepreneurship. The company identifies, trains, and mentors motivated individuals from local farming communities to become Agriculture Entrepreneurs (AEs), who serve as village-level agri-business service providers and trusted resource persons for farmers.

As the frontline representatives of LAPCL, AEs bridge the gap between the Farmer Producer Company and its members by ensuring timely doorstep delivery of quality agricultural inputs, facilitating the aggregation of marketable surplus, providing technical advisory services, and coordinating access to various agricultural products and services. Functioning as village-level retail and service centres, AEs play a pivotal role in improving farmers' access to affordable inputs, reducing transaction costs, strengthening market linkages, and creating sustainable rural employment opportunities.

To complement this decentralized service delivery model, LAPCL invests continuously in the capacity building of both Agriculture Entrepreneurs and member farmers. The company organizes regular training programmes, field demonstrations, exposure visits, farmer field schools, and awareness campaigns to enhance technical knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and farm management practices.

LAPCL regularly organizes training programmes, demonstrations, exposure visits, and awareness campaigns to build farmers' technical and managerial capacities. Key focus areas include improved crop production practices, climate-smart agriculture, integrated nutrient and pest management, animal husbandry, post-harvest management, and sustainable farming systems. Agriculture Entrepreneurs provide continuous field-level advisory and follow-up support to member farmers.

ü  Supply of Quality Agricultural Inputs:

LAPCL ensures timely availability of certified seeds, fertilizers, crop protection products, micronutrients, bio-inputs, cattle feed  and other agricultural inputs at competitive prices. The company holds dealership and distributorship agreements with several reputed agricultural input manufacturers and maintains partnerships with leading national brands. LAPCL currently operates two agri-input retail outlets in Gilaula and Sirsiya Blocks of Shravasti district and a central warehouse with a seed processing unit in Dhani Block of Maharajganj district.

ü  Aggregation, storage and bulk marketing of Agricultural Produce

LAPCL aggregates surplus agricultural produce from member farmers, creating   economies of scale and improving market access. Major commodities handled include wheat, paddy, maize, and groundnut. To ensure efficient post-harvest management and reduce distress sales, the company operates two rented storage facilities in Shravasti district for scientific storage and inventory management.

LAPCL facilitates market access for member farmers by connecting them with institutional buyers, processors, wholesalers, and aggregators. For commodities not directly procured by the company, LAPCL negotiates favourable prices and procurement terms on behalf of farmers while ensuring transparent procurement and timely payments. The company is actively engaged in the bulk marketing of agricultural inputs, grains, and seeds, including wheat, paddy, maize, and groundnut.

ü  Credit Linkage to farmers:

To improve farmers' access to financial services, LAPCL collaborates with banks and other financial institutions to facilitate institutional credit whenever required. Although not a routine service, the company supports eligible farmers in accessing crop loans, working capital, and other financial products to strengthen agricultural investments.

ü  Seed Production, Processing and Marketing:

LAPCL promotes quality seed production through contract farming and farmer participation. Currently, the company produces certified seeds of wheat, paddy, and groundnut in collaboration with member farmers. Wheat and paddy seed production activities are concentrated in Maharajganj district, while groundnut seed production is undertaken in Shravasti district. The company is also expanding into hybrid maize seed production to meet the growing demand for quality planting material.

LAPCL operates a modern commercial seed processing unit at Sivkot village,  Dhani Block, Maharajganj district. The facility is equipped for cleaning, grading, treating, and packaging seeds to maintain high quality standards. In addition to processing its own seeds, the company also offers seed processing services to other Farmer Producer Organizations, seed producers, and agribusinesses on a rental basis.

LAPCL has developed and launched its own seed brand, "Lehra Agro Seed," offering high-quality seeds produced through its seed production programme. The company currently markets wheat, paddy, and groundnut seeds under its own brand while also distributing quality seeds from reputed national seed companies to meet diverse farmer requirements.

ü  Farm Machinery Bank:

To promote farm mechanization and reduce cultivation costs, LAPCL manages a Farm Machinery Bank comprising tractors, laser land levellers, disc ploughs, rotavators, and other agricultural equipment. These machines are made available to farmers on a rental basis, enabling access to modern farm implements without requiring substantial capital investment.

ü  Consultancy and Institutional Development Services:

Drawing upon its extensive experience in Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) development, LAPCL provides consultancy and technical support to emerging FPOs, promoting institutions, government agencies, and development organizations. Its services include FPO formation and governance, statutory compliance, business planning, value chain development, entrepreneurship promotion, capacity building, and institutional strengthening.
